Do you have to be smart to do crossword puzzles?

Crossword puzzles have been around for well over a century, and they remain a popular pastime enjoyed by people of all ages. But do you need to be smart to do a crossword puzzle?

The answer is: not necessarily. It is certainly true that having a good knowledge base can be helpful in completing a crossword. After all, a crossword is essentially a test of your knowledge. But it is not essential. Most of the clues used in crossword puzzles can be solved with some logical deduction and careful consideration.
